Beer City Winds

Beer City Winds (BCW) is an adult symphonic band that provides a semi-professional performing experience. Meeting and performing for eight weeks in the early summer (to accommodate students and teachers on a school-year schedule), this ensemble’s diverse membership allows for a unique instrumental community that prides itself on technical precision, musicality, and emotional depth.

Core Values

  • Musicality: BCW is dedicated to a high level of music making with experienced musicians.
  • Member-Driven Management: The BCW experience depends on the skill of each performer as an artist. In addition, members will have the opportunity to conduct and have their compositions performed. Members will be able to suggest repertoire for the season.
  • Diversity: Diversity in age, race, occupation, experience, and gender strengthens our ensemble. BCW purposely recruits and values diverse membership and leadership.
  • Innovation: At its heart, BCW is a creative ensemble, fueled by excitement for new ideas regarding performance, repertoire and musicality.

Member Selection

There is a selection process, but no auditions are required. Members are expected to be active performing musicians. Members should be at least 18 years old and have at least 6 years of experience playing their instrument. Interested musicians must fill out the membership application (linked below), and the director will review and select the most qualified members. Ensemble balance is crucial and members will be selected based on time commitment, performing experience and ensemble needs.. Application review will begin on April 1 and all applicants will be contacted following this process.
