ISAAC SUNG started studying piano at age nine with Aileen Chung, who taught him the first steps of piano. Under Jinah Lee’s teaching and guidance, he began to really appreciate music. Isaac won the Grand Rapids Musicians League FAME Scholarship Competition in 7th and 8th grade. He used his award to go to Interlochen Arts Camp in the summer of 2022 where he studied under Mary Siciliano. There, he was motivated to set goals for himself to play virtuoso music by masters such as Chopin and Liszt. Along with lessons, what inspires him is talking about great pianists and piano pieces with his friends. He also appreciates his former teacher, Dr. Helen Marlais and his mother Lisa Sung who is a jazz pianist. Besides piano, Isaac likes talking with friends, drawing, sleeping and hanging out with five other siblings. He considers music as a gift from God and wants to use music to glorify God. He attends Grand Rapids Christian High School and is on the varsity wrestling team.
