With the United States celebrating its 250th year, ensembles across the country are marking the milestone through music. I considered building this year's Beer City Winds concert around the anniversary, but the theme didn't fully take shape until I stood at the rim of the Grand Canyon earlier this year, in complete awe of the beauty. This concert features music depicting our natural vistas, from the deserts and badlands to Yosemite at sunrise, alongside music honoring the people who have worked to shape a society just as beautiful.
