Receptionist

Job Summary

• Responsible for staffing the front desk and acting as lobby monitor. Duties include but are not limited to:

o Staff reception desk during business hours (10am-4pm)

o Execute receptionist duties, such as answering phones, greeting the public, distributing appropriate information to visitors and routing messages

o Act as lobby monitor for incoming groups and visitors

o Open the building in the morning and secure the building before leaving for the day

o Maintain appropriate voicemail messages for incoming calls including nights, weekends, concert days and checking messages each morning

o Provide administrative assistance as needed for other staff members including:

- Support Box office with ticket orders and database entry

- Support School of Music with database entry

- Assist with events as needed during the day

- Support with various mailings and other projects

o Handle credit card charges as needed for various income activities such as rentals, merchandise sales, donations and tuition

Primary Relationships:

• The position reports to the Executive Director.

• The receptionist maintains working relationships with all other staff members as pertains to the various departments of School of Music, Event and Facility, Development and Box Office

• The receptionist maintains positive relationships with staff, ticket buyers, donors, and the public at large visiting and communicating with SCMC

Required Qualifications:

• Ability to learn SCMC’s database platforms for ticketing and donations

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Strong customer service skills

• Computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel

• Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams, as well as independently

• Create positive and friendly atmosphere as the person welcoming people into the building

• Ability to manage multiple projects at a time

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience - continued -

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous office experience

• High comfort level with interacting with the public

• Willingness to work some nights and weekends
